Job Summary:
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the timely availability of raw materials, consumables, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods within a metal fabrication manufacturing facility employing approximately 120 team members. This position supports production efficiency by managing inventory transactions, cycle counts, receiving activities, material movements, and inventory accuracy initiatives while adhering to company safety and quality standards.
Job Duties:
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the company's ERP/MRP system.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, sheet metal, tubing, hardware, welding supplies, and production consumables.
- Process inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and shipments.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly.
- Track and report inventory accuracy metrics.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and annual audits.
- Reconcile count variances and identify root causes.
- Implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Coordinate receiving inspections with quality and production departments.
- Label and organize inventory according to established procedures.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage or loss.
- Issue materials to production departments as required.
- Monitor work-in-process inventory throughout fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly operations.
- Coordinate material replenishment to prevent production delays.
- Support scheduling and production teams with inventory availability information.
- Generate inventory reports for management review.
- Analyze inventory trends, shortages, excess stock, and obsolete materials.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support production requirements.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce inventory costs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment; metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform basic inventory calculations and data analysis.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and inventory control best practices.
Experience and Education Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate
- 2+ years of inventory control, warehouse, manufacturing, or supply chain experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods.
- Frequently be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 60 pounds and larger amounts with assistance.
- Employee must be able to read, hear and speak English.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to use computers throughout the workday.

Pay and Benefits:
